Members of the Remodelers Council also regularly volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. Working with Deconstruction crews, they remove usable building materials from demolition sites to be sold in Habitat Wake’s ReStore. These salvaged materials are diverted away from local landfills and help fund the building of new Habitat homes for families in need of safe, affordable housing.
The work the council does for Habitat and Resources for Seniors requires the skills remodelers use everyday. According to Rick Parker, a member of the Remodelers Council, “We’re proud to be able to use our skills as remodelers to contribute to the community and help some of those in need.”
